At this stage, the Empire Music Academy offers tuition in Piano, Keyboard, Electronic Organ, Vocal / Singing, Guitar, Theory of Music and Musicianship. However, we are always on the lookout for qualified music teachers with a passion for music and teaching to assist us with our continued growth.

You will learn the benefit of commitment to practice, overcoming the fear of public performances and preparing for examinations, all of which help to build discipline and self-confidence.

Whilst some students wish to study Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) examinations as part of their training, the type of music you learn is your choice, as not everyone wants to study for examinations. Some students just like to learn for the pleasure that music brings and the satisfaction of learning an instrument.

At the other end of the scale, if a student so chooses, we are able to prepare students for the AMEB practical and theory exams, held on an annual basis. Additionally, should students wish to patriciate in Eisteddfods or competitions, we are able to prepare students with the correct repertoire and techniques.

You will learn:
  • music reading;
  • ability to identify musical notes by ear;
  • music theory (understanding the symbols used in music); and
  • composition.

Age: 4 Years +
The Piano or Keyboard is an excellent instrument on which to start, as learning a Keyboard instrument forms a good basis for learning any other instrument.
Keyboard instruments do not require daily tuning and are generally easy to understand, as pitch is set out in order from lowest to highest.
Students are able to learn "Classical Piano", from Preliminary to 8th grade and beyond or play "Piano for Leisure", where you are able to choose from Classical, modern, jazz, film scores and the like.

This is your own instrument with no initial financial outlay. You can practice anywhere, anytime!
You can sing solo or use your skills to join a choir or a band.
Singing is great for stress release, personal development and self-confidence. Singing is also something you can enjoy with the rest of your family or friends.
With singing, you have the flexibility to learn your favourite music, whether it be opera, music from the top 40 or themes from famous stage shows.

Guitar is another good instrument upon which to start the learning process and again, students aged from 4 + can learn the guitar without difficulty.

At The Empire Music Academy, we don't just teach students learning the Guitar how to play chords and read TAB, we also ensure students have a full understanding of how to actually read the notes and understand the theory behind what they are learning.

Theory of Music supports the practical aspect of Music and allows students to fully understand the meaning of symbols and terms.

We offer preparation for the Australian Music Examinations Board Theory and Musicianship exams:
  • 1st to 8th Grade Theory;
  • 1st to 8th Grade Musicianship.

We are able to assist students in preparation for their HSC music examinations in HSC Music Course 1 and Course 2 written and practical exams, including:
  • Performance and piece selection in accordance with required repertoire;
  • Musicology, Viva Voce and Essays;
  • Composition and completion of Composition Portfolios; and
  • Refining Aural Skills.

Music 1 caters for students who have diverse musical backgrounds and musical interests, including those with an interest in popular music. It therefore attracts students with a formal musical background as well as those with only informal experience.
Music 2 focuses on the study of Western art music. It assumes students have a formal background in music, have developed music literacy skills and have some knowledge and understanding of musical styles.
The Extension course assumes a high level of music literacy, advanced performance skills, composition skills and musicology skills.
